Volvo launches XC60 compact SUV in India at Rs 41.41 lakhs ex-Mumbai

Volvo Auto India have launched their much awaited compact luxury SUV, the XC60 in India today. The XC60 comes loaded with luxury, convenience and safety technology. We just had a look at its features and specification list, and should we say, we are highly impressed. The steep price tag of Rs 39.5 lakh Ex-Delhi and Rs 41.41 lakh ex-Mumbai looks completely justified as we scan the specs, features and options on the vehicle. The first batch of the CBU imports (from Ghent, Belgium) for the newly launched compact SUV have already been booked. Here is all that you need to know about this newest entrant in the fast expanding compact SUV segment

Volvo XC60 Engine

The new XC60 is powered by a 2.4-litre D5, twin turbo diesel engine that produces 205 bhp of peak power @ 4000rpm and 420Nm of torque at 1500-2750rpm. The five cylinder engine employs high-pressure Prizo injectors for above par output and impressive efficiency. Volvo is claiming an ‘official’ fuel economy of 13.8kmpl. The D5 engine is also Bharat IV compliant.

Volvo XC90 AWD
The Volvo XC90 gets its off-roading AWD capability with the fourth-generation Haldex AWD system which powers the rear wheels in normal road conditions and powers the front wheels if a loss of traction is observed at individual wheels.
The fourth generation Haldex AWD system is the same gear that works under the chassis of the newly launched Skoda Yeti and also the Land Rover Freelander2.

• Collision Warning with Auto Brake alerts the driver if the distance to a vehicle ahead suddenly decreases. This system gives the driver a fair chance to mitigate a collision
• Adaptive Cruise Control also in slow queues – which helps the driver to maintain a safe distance with the vehicle in front at speeds over 30kmph
• Driver Alert Control  to detect and alert tired and distracted drivers
• Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) helps detect vehicles in the offset rear blind spot on both sides of the SUV
• Lane Departure Warning alerts the driver if the SUV runs across the lane markers without the turn indicator being used
