There is a new chapter coming for Volvo in India. On October 12, the company will launch two electric models together. One is a large SUV and the other is a premium sedan. The EX90 and ES90 will sit at the top of Volvo’s electric range in India.
For someone walking into a Volvo showroom today, the choice is mostly around the existing SUV range. That will change soon. The EX90 will offer three rows of seats, while the ES90 will bring back Volvo’s luxury sedan presence after the S90 was discontinued in India.
Volvo EX90 SUV
The EX90 has the size and road presence expected from a flagship SUV. It measures 5,037mm long, 1,964mm wide and 1,744mm tall. Its wheelbase measures 2,985mm.
The design is clearly different from the XC90.
- Pixel style Thor’s Hammer lighting
- Vertical fog lamps
- Closed front grille
- Flush door handles
- 20 to 22 inch wheels
- C shaped rear lights
- LiDAR hardware on the roof
- Drag coefficient of 0.29
The EX90 can seat seven people as standard. Some versions are available with six seats and captain chairs. Selected global markets also get a four seat version with a refrigerator and rear comfort features.

EX90 Battery And Performance
Volvo offers two battery choices internationally. The larger battery is paired with all wheel drive.
| Version | Battery | Power | Torque | Range |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| Twin Motor | 106kWh | 456hp | 670Nm | 608km |
| Twin Motor Performance | 106kWh | 680hp | 870Nm | 602km |
The quickest version can reach 100kph in around four seconds. Charging can go up to 350kW, with a 10 to 80 percent charge taking about 22 minutes.
EX90 Cabin And Features
The cabin follows Volvo’s clean design approach. A 14.5 inch portrait touchscreen sits in the centre and uses Google services. There is also a 9 inch driver display and a head up display.
Other equipment includes:
- Four zone climate control
- Panoramic glass roof
- 360 degree camera
- Digital key

- Level 3 ADAS
The EX90 also gets a 45 litre front storage area and up to 384 litres of boot space with all three rows in use.

Volvo ES90 Sedan
The ES90 takes the same electric architecture and turns it into a five seat luxury sedan. It measures lower to the ground than the EX90 and has a drag coefficient of just 0.25, making it Volvo’s most aerodynamic car so far.
Its exterior gets a similar lighting theme, but the headlamps and tail lamps have their own design.
- Thor’s Hammer LED signature
- Closed front section
- Vertical brake lights
- C shaped rear lights
- 20 to 22 inch wheels
- Gloss black exterior details
- 0.25 Cd drag coefficient

ES90 Battery And Range
The ES90 uses the same battery and motor choices as the EX90.
| Version | Battery | Power | Torque | Range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single Motor | 92kWh | 333hp | 480Nm | 664km |
| Twin Motor | 106kWh | 456hp | 670Nm | 696km |
| Twin Motor Performance | 106kWh | 680hp | 870Nm | Around 602km |
The 106kWh ES90 can offer up to 696km of WLTP range. It also supports charging speeds of up to 350kW.
ES90 Cabin And Equipment
The dashboard is similar to the EX90, with a 14.5 inch touchscreen, 9 inch driver display and the head up display. The ES90 has extra physical buttons around the centre console and a more enclosed storage section.
Boot space stands at 424 litres, with another 27 litres available in the front.

Both cars get advanced safety technology, Google based connected features, OTA updates, 360 degree cameras and Level 3 ADAS.
Volvo has not yet announced India specific prices or exact variants. Those details should arrive closer to the October launch.
For now, the EX90 and ES90 give Volvo a strong new pair of electric flagships. One offers space for the family, while the other brings back the company’s premium sedan presence. The October 12 launch will show how Volvo plans to position both models in India.
