Volkswagen Virtus Anniversary Edition Launched At Rs 19.20 Lakh

The midsize sedan segment leader has turned 4. We are talking about the Volkswagen Virtus. To mark the occasion, Volkswagen has brought a special Anniversary Edition to India. It costs Rs 19.20 lakh ex showroom and only 150 units will be sold.

The special version is based on the GT Plus Sport. It is not a new engine or a major equipment update. The main attraction is the new colour and a few visual touches that give the sedan a different look.

What is new on the Virtus Anniversary Edition?

The biggest change is the Avocado Pearl paint. This shade was first seen on the facelifted Taigun. Volkswagen has paired it with a black roof and black alloy wheels. The combination gives the Virtus a sporty look without adding too much.

The Anniversary Edition gets:

  • Avocado Pearl exterior colour
  • Black roof
  • Black alloy wheels
  • GT Plus Sport base
  • Limited production of 150 units

Volkswagen is also offering a few accessories through its dealerships. Buyers can add a 360 degree camera, front parking sensors and puddle lamps. These items are optional and are also offered for the Taigun.

Engine and gearbox

There is no change to the powertrain. It uses the familiar 1.5 litre TSI EVO turbo petrol engine. It makes 150 PS and 250 Nm. Power goes to the front wheels through a 7 speed DSG automatic gearbox.

Features and safety

The cabin has an 8 inch virtual cluster and a 10.1 inch infotainment screen, along with a single pane sunroof. It also gets auto headlamps and rain sensing wipers. The GT Plus Sport package brings other sporty touches too.

Safety is another strong point. The Virtus carries a 5 star Global NCAP safety rating and gets six airbags as standard. Other equipment includes an auto dimming inside rear view mirror and Laser Red ambient lighting.

Is the facelift close?

The timing of this edition is interesting because the Virtus facelift has already been spotted testing. The Skoda Slavia, which shares its platform with the Virtus, is also receiving an update. Skoda has introduced limited run versions of the Slavia Monte Carlo before its facelift.
