The Mark II Scirocco GTS is still a favourite of many and all these 30 years have not been able to do much to rob the car off its charm. Now, Volkswagen recently revealed the third generation of Scirocco GTS at Auto Mobil International (AMI) in Leipzig, Germany and boy, does the car pays homage to the Mark II.
Lurking beneath the hood of the latest generation of Scirocco GTS is a 2.0-liter turbo engine that pumps out a very healthy 210 HP and the motor surely does justice to those racing stripes that extend all the way from the hood to the tailgate, via, roof and even the spoiler. True to its hot hatch lineage, the car comes with side skirts, side moldings, 18-inch “Thunder” alloy wheels, red brake calipers and the GTS badges. The rear diffuser and spoiler on the GTS is courtesy the more Scirocco R. On the inside, the car features black leather seats with a touch of red, red trim inserts and also the almost quintessential golf ball shift knob.
