The upcoming Volkswagen Polo GT TDI 1.5 will be launched along with the highly anticipated Volksawagen Polo facelift, which will be powered by a new 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine. This engine will replace the rather unrefined 1.2 litre diesel engine of the Polo and the 1.6 litre engine of the Polo GT TDI. This 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, diesel motor has been derived from the current 1.6 litre unit and while it is likely to have a max power of around 89 bhp for the Polo diesel variants, it will produce 104 bhp for the GT TDI and the Vento. It might also come with a new DSG automatic gearbox option. This upcoming engine has been developed specifically for Indian market and would help the car maker to benefit from excise duty benefits that are being provided to sub 4m cars that are powered by diesel engines upto 1.5 litres in displacement. This engine is also very likely to power the speculated Vento based compact sedan.
