Volkswagen Polo based SUV rendering looks like a mini Tiguan

Volkswagen Polo SUV (2)

It’s no secret that Volkswagen is working on a sub-compact SUV based on the Polo. After the recently launched, all-new Tiguan, the company will launch a bigger 7-seat crossover inspired by the Cross Blue concept, which will be followed by Polo based SUV in 2018. Till then, the upcoming, India bound crossover has been rendered by Remco M.

With the T-Cross Breeze concept as the base and a tweaked Tiguan face slapped on, the rendering does look the pretty spot on. The crossover will measure 4.2 meters, about 20 cm more than the current Polo. Like most Volkswagen models, the Polo based crossover will come in several different flavors, including a R-Line trim. A lot of names are rumoured such as Teracor, Tribue, Taigun and Terasun.

The drive-trains are expected to be shared with the Polo as well, with small capacity turbo-petrol and turbo-diesel motors strapped to dual clutch automatic or manual transmissions. An Indian launch of the Polo based SUV can only be expected sometime in 2019. In Europe, its competitors would include models like the Opel/Vauxhall Mokka, Renault Captur, Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008.
