Volkswagen Cars to cost more from 1st January 2014

After the German trio of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi, Volkswagen is the newest entry into the league of carmakers increasing their prices. Volkswagen will be increasing the prices by 2.5 % across its entire line-up. The price increase will be applicable from January 1, 2014.

The reason given is the rise in input costs which increases prices of components. All these factors make the cars more expensive to manufacture.
Speaking on the price rise, Mr. Arvind Saxena, Managing Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars said, “We have been faced with constant rise in input cost over the past several months and have tried our best to absorb it. However, in order to maintain our quality standards that our customer expects from us, we have had to increase the price by a small percentage.
With every manufacturer increasing their prices, people wanting to buy cars can avail the year-end discounts, which some car makers provide to clear their inventory, and save themselves from the price rise by buying the cars this month.
