An engineering student died while his co-passengers were injured in a car crash at the infamous Road No. 3 near Masjid junction in Banjara Hills. The driver of the Hyundai i20 car, 20-year-old Farshahat Ali, was traveling with his friends, Danish Javed and Syed Waiz Hussain when the accident took place. A CCTV footage from a nearby camera and bystanders reveal that Ali was driving too fast around the corner. The hatchback crashed into the median and flipped at least three times before turning turtle. The car did not hit any other person, or vehicle, thus reducing any further casualties.
Ali was not wearing his seat-belt and thus suffered severe injuries. He lost his life on the spot. His co-passenger in the front seat suffered a fracture to his hand while the person in the rear seat escaped with minor injuries. Both of them were wearing seat belts. Initial reports from the local police suggest that the driver was not in a inebriated state. Ali’s father said that he had a valid driving license too. Ali may have survived if he had been wearing his seat belt.

The infamous, sharp corner in Banjara Hills has been a cause of accident in the past too. Previously, three engineering students lost their lives at the same corner back in September 2015. Last year, a 10-year-old girl, P Ramya, lost her life in another crash around the same place.

Rash and negligible driving can be fatal to the occupants of the vehicles, as well as the people around. Watch out for stray animals, pedestrians and other cars on the road around every corner. Always wear your seat belt / helmet and follow all the traffic rules.
