Ahhh, the perks of being a famous automotive enthusiast! Jay Leno is always one of the first celebrities in the world to get their hands on any piece of new and delectable machinery, be it from McLaren, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, or even our very own Tata. His massive reach and popularity, coupled to his unbridled enthusiasm for anything that moves, means that companies flock to him to showcase their products first hand.
And Kawasaki Motors has done the same for the latest motorcycle that’s taking the two-wheeled world by storm, the Ninja H2. And, yeah, its track-only sibling, the Ninja H2R.
Kawasaki also sent him their North America Manager of PR, Kevin Allen. Unlike most PR people, Kevin seems like a genuine bike nut and he was able to explain to Leno many new details that we haven’t heard yet from EICMA or Intermot so far.
Leno seems particularly interested in the Kawasaki Ninja H2’s seat bolsters. Considering the ferocious acceleration that the H2 and H2R are capable of, the seat bolsters integrated into the pillion seat are kind of necessary. It is adjustable and helps keep the rider in place even in the face of brutal windblasts.
The two guys also banter about how the Ninja H2 costs a fraction of a supercar, nee hypercar, yet delivers similar levels of performance at the same price. They fire both bikes up in Jay Leno’s famous garage, and the sound of the H2R clearing its throat inside that studio is something to savor. Of course, both being pre-production models, Leno didn’t have the chance to take them for a spin, but he promises that he has more content on both coming soon.
