An updated Mahindra Xylo will be soon unveiled by Mahindra. The move is aimed at giving a push to the lagging sales of the MPV.
The Xylo MPV has been witnessing slowing sales for quite some time now. Data shows that Mahindra was able to sell 13,961 units of the Xylo in the last fiscal year. The number is about 45% lower when it comes to the sales witnessed one more year earlier. The diminishing numbers shouldn’t be a surprise; Xylo hasn’t been updated in a while. Another reason for its poor performance of late has been the competition from new MPVs like the Maruti-Suzuki Ertiga.
To answer this issue, Mahindra has decided to launch an updated version very soon. The new model will possess mechanical and aesthetic changes as well. It will feature reworked interiors and styling changes on the exterior too. For all these upgrades, it is expected that the updated Mahindra Xylo will carry a slight premium over its head as compared to the current Xylo.
- Body graphics on the side
- Decals on the rear
- Added chrome garnishing on the tail-gate
The interior redesigning will involve :
- New dual-tone black and beige interior finish
- Fresh seat fabrics
- Changed instrument cluster design
- Inclusion of a new 60:40 Split folding third row
- Improvement of lumbar support in the second row
The mechanical changes will not be so vast, however. The source mentions that the only tweak on the mechanical side will be a change in the suspension of the vehicle. This will lend the updated Mahindra Xylo better ride quality and increased stability. No changes are expected to the engines used on the MPV. The familiar mHawk engines will be doing their hauling duties on the new Xylo.
Can this updated Mahindra Xylo fend off the might of the Maruti-Suzuki Ertiga?? We aren’t sure.
