Tata Motors is working on expanding its product portfolio with a number of launches that are slated to happen in the next few months. The company is readying itself to launch the Hexa SUV in January 2017 and following would be the Kite 5 (Tiago Compact Sedan) and the Nexon compact SUV.

Speaking of the Tata Nexon, a test mule of the compact SUV has been spied during a public road test yet again. Well, what’s new this time is that though the model is almost completely wrapped in camouflage, a few cracks in the camouflage reveal the orange paintjob of the upcoming vehicle.
As seen in the spy image, the orange shade that the test mule sports is likely to be the Sunbrust Orange paintjob which is currently seen on its sibling the Tiago hatchback. Judging by some features such as the alloy wheels, body coloured door handles, roof rails, contrast coloured roof and C-pillars and rear wiper, the model in question is most likely to be the top-end XT trim.

Powering the Tata Nexon will be a new engine from the company’s Revotron family and the crossover will have a 1.5-litre diesel motor sitting under its hood. Power output is likely to be rated at 108 hp while the peak torque is expected to be at about 260 Nm. This engine could send power to the wheels via a six speed manual transmission while an AMT transmission could also be on offer.
On the inside, the Nexon could be equipped with features such as a dual tone theme, a free standing Harman infotainment system and a Terrain Response knob that would enable the compact SUV to counter a number of terrains. Once launched, the Tata Nexon would rival the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and the Mahindra NuvoSport.
