Upcoming Mahindra Rear Engine Bus Spied

Mahindra has its presence in nearly every automotive segment. Be it two wheelers or tractors, they have a market presence. With the acquisition of the Ssangyong, they have added one more feather to their cap. Earlier, Mahindra had entered into a joint venture with Navistar for truck and bus business. But now, they seems to have parted ways and Mahindra’s  trucks and bus operations are now separately known as Mahindra Trucks and Buses Limited (MTBL).

Now, our friends at Motorbash have managed to click pictures of the upcoming rear engined bus from Mahindra. They report that it is a rear engined bus with an air-conditioning unit on top if it and also an “ON TEST” badge on the rear. Sadly, the frontal pictures are not available with them. Also, they report that the build quality appears to be decent.

As can be seen from the pics, this Mahindra bus is fairly large in size and it is understood that this bus will be made available for intercity use by the tour operators.

Mahindra is venturing into the territory dominated by the players like Tata, Ashok Leyland with this bus. Also, custom made buses by coach builders with those fake Volvo badges and exteriors are already eating up the market share. Now, even Scania has jumped into this segment with more high-end buses which compete with the likes of Volvo and Mercedes buses.

This bus is expected to boast a seating capacity of 40+ passengers and will be luxurious enough(if not more) than the others.

Although engine details are not known, this bus is expected to be powered by the 7.2 litre diesel engine from the Mahindra stable.

Stay tuned to Motoroids for more details on the upcoming Mahindra bus.
