It is no secret that the Ford EcoSport, which was launched in India earlier this year, has quickly managed to become the most popular of compact SUVs ever. The EcoSport has managed to get the better of the ‘once-popular’ Renault Duster in most markets and thanks to the EcoSport, almost every mainstream car maker has decided to soon jump into the compact crossover segment. One such car maker is popular Italian car maker Fiat, which is reportedly working on an upcoming B Segment Crossover (Codename- Project 338).
The Project 338 will be first launched in Brazil, where Fiat is a leading player and the upcoming Fiat Compact Crossover is being developed based on the market requirements in the country.
The Fiat Project 338 would rival the EcoSport (obviously), Mitsubishi TR4 and the Suzuki SX4 crossover. It is being said that the Project 338 would be benchmarked against these vehicles.
The Project 338 would be manufactured at Fiat’s upcoming Brazilian facility in Pernambuco, where it would be produced alongside a a new pick up (codename- Project 226). The Fiat Project 338 is currently in initial phases of development and we expect spy pics of test mules to emerge early next year.
