Skoda India has recently launched the Skoda Octavia this month. Now, as per a report by T-BHP , Skoda has decided to give a variant rejig to the 2014 Rapid sedan. Also, some new features will be added to the sedan.
The updated Skoda Rapid models now will include only five variants, four in petrol ( two in manual and two in automatic) and a single one in diesel. Considering the fact that the Rapid is Skoda’s best selling model, it is unclear as to why Skoda has reduced the variants on offer.
The Rapid’s petrol variants will be available in Ambition Plus and Elegance trims (in manual and automatic transmissions), while the oil burner Rapid will be available in a single trim called Elegance. This move by Skoda may be a hint that they are also plonking the 1.2 litre TSI engine with DSG into the Rapid.
The additional features which are now available in the Ambition Trim are:-
< Bluetooth Connectivy
< Steering Mounted Controls
< On-board Computer
The Elegance Trim now also gets projector headlamps.
The Skoda Rapid in India is available with 1.6 litre petrol and diesel mills. The 1.6 litre petrol is also available with a 6 speed automatic transmission with tiptronic mode. This MPI petrol engine produces a max power of 105 PS, and a peak torque of 153 NM. The diesel 1.6 mill also produces 105 PS of max power, but a healthy 250 NM of peak torque.
Considering the fact that the Vento and Rapid are produced in the same factories, Skoda may plonk the 1.2 litre TSI petrol in the Rapid.
