Upcoming 2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe Spied Again

The highly anticipated Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe has been spied once again. The car is busy clearing the decks for its launch next year. The test mule seen here is wearing its full production body, but the camouflage does the good job of hiding certain details from the spy photographers.

Although the car hides most of its styling cues, but we can clearly decipher the size of the massive air intakes on the front bumper. The S-Class Coupe’s usually sport these large air intakes, but these look pretty special. Apart from the air intakes, we also get a slightly better view of the restyled headlights. On the rear, the car sports new LED tail-lights which are clearly visible in the pictures.

This AMG S-Class Coupe will be derived from the Concept S-Class Coupe, which was showcased in September at the Frankfurt Motor
Show.

The car will be powered by AMG’s 5.5 liter twin-turbo V8 engine. This AMG V8 motor pumps out 585 bhp of power, which is transmitted to the wheels via a 7-speed SPEEDSHIFT MCT sports transmission system. The AMG V8 in combination with the 7-speed gearbox, ensures that the Coupe dismisses the 100 kmph mark from standstill in just around 3.8 seconds. As with most cars, the car’s top speed will be electronically limited at 250 kmph.

The car will be available with the 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard, at least in the U.S market. AMG’s version of 4MATIC features a 33-67 front-rear torque split setup. This setup will offer a rear-wheel drive feel, with the plus point of additional traction from the all-wheel-drive when roads get slippery.
