UNVEILED: 2013 Mercedes Benz G Class

We reported when spy images of the 2013 G Class from Mercedes-Benz surfaced on the web world. Now, the popular German carmaker has lifted the covers off the new edition of the SUV. The updated car features daytime running LED lamps, new alloy wheels, new ORVMs, relocated front fender and a new front grille. On the inside, the refreshed car gets colour display for instrument panel, new steering wheel, new gear knob, revised centre stack and a Harman Kardon audio system. Further revisions to the features list are courtesy the Parktronic assistance and updated Command system that have been made standard across all variants.

The G Class line up gets a new flagship in the guise of a G63 AMG variant that is powered by a 4.4-litre V8 motor from the good folks at AMG. The engine pumps out a decent 550PS-760Nm and makes the car more powerful than the outgoing G55 AMG. The car has also become more fuel efficient with Mercedes claiming a better combined fuel efficiency of 7.36kmpl (an improvement of 15 %). The G wagon comes equipped with a four wheel drive mechanism with differential locks, Electronic Traction System on all wheels (4ETS) and a low-range gear reduction system.

The new G-Class is slated to head to production next month and will come within a price bracket of Rs 71.74 lakh – Rs 1.06 crore.
