UM motorcycles made its show debut in India at the 2014 Auto Expo and showcased its models such as the Renegade Commando, Renegade Commando Limited Edition and the Renegade Sport. The company has been planning to officially launch its products in India at the 2016 Auto Expo as reported by us back in September 2015. In the meanwhile, UM Motorcycles have entered a Joint Venture with Lohia Auto which was announced by UM Motorcycles India Director, Rajeev Mishra. Mr Mishra also shed light on the plans of the American motorcycle maker in India in an exclusive interview with Motoroids earlier this year.

CEO of Lohia Auto, Ayush Lohia stated that they have already appointed 5 dealerships and are looking to appoint 50 more dealerships in the southern market. Lohia auto would be responsible only for the manufacturing of the bikes and the rest of the operations such as R&D and sales & service network would be taken care of by UM Motorcycles India.

They plan to launch one model each in the 250 cc segment, 300 cc segment followed by the 400 cc and one model would be launched every 3-4 months against the earlier reports that suggested the engine displacements would be between 100cc and 250cc. We hope that the UM-Lohia duo does not push this launch to a future date as many enthusiasts are awaiting the launch of these bikes.
