Two-wheeler sales in June 2014: Bajaj Auto posts 3% growth

Pune based two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has come out with it’s numbers for two-wheeler sales in June 2014. They reported a 3.3% year-on-year jump in June. Bajaj sold 2,62,202 motorcycles in June 2014, in comparison to 2,54,544 they sold in the same month of the previous year. Commercial vehicles sales witnessed a growth of 5%, as they sold 43,263 of them in June-14 compared to 41,205 in the same month last year.

Number of vehicles exported stood at 1,35,074 for June 2014, whereas, the number was 1,20,399 in June 2013, a hike of 12%. Numbers for the second quarter witnessed hike too. Motorcycle sales saw a 2% jump from 8,60,151 for the same quarter last year to 8,74,858 (Apr-Jun) this year. Sales of commercial vehicles took a hit though, where they sold 1,19,124 units in the same period last year, this year they could manage 1,13,572, a drop of 5%. Total sales saw a hike of 1% from 9,79,275 in 2013 to 9,88,430 in 2014, for the second quarter of the year. Exports were in green as they witnessed a hike of 22% from 3,62,563 in 2013 to 4,41,967 in 2014.

  1. Growth seems pretty much flat for Bajaj Auto over the last 6 months. KTM too isn’t doing great numbers in India, a fact visible on our roads. What is killing growth for Bajaj is lack of upgrade for its existing models, the NS isn’t a sales chart scorcher for sure. The SS200 would have helped Bajaj big time in reviving its double digit growth record.
