Toyota launched its highly customisable small car, the Aygo, in United Kingdom today. The Aygo comes with 10 interchangeable exterior and cabin features giving customers opportunity to make their car distinctive. This is for the first time that Toyota will be offering so many customisation offers.
The new X-shape front, alloy wheels, instrument panels and seats give the Aygo modern and premium look. The entry level Aygo X will come equipped with Toyota’s new 1-liter 69 hp petrol engine. The power will be transmitted to the wheels via a 5-speed manual shifter or a semi-automatic x-shift. The Aygo X comes with a price tag of £8,595 (approximately Rs 8,54,950) and Toyota will commence deliveries on July 1 in UK.
In spite of the huge number customisation options provided with the Aygo, the company claims that customers will not face a long wait for their vehicle to arrive, nor will they face huge extra cost. Toyota has also provided features with the Aygo that are only found on big cars. One such feature is the new x-touch multimedia system with MirrorLink function for smart connection of mobile phones. New Aygo is also the first in its class to offer a rear-view camera and it can be specified with Smart Entry and push button start.
Toyota did not mention any plans for introducing the new Aygo to India which, at given point of time is a good strategy, as the price of the product is too premium and may not appeal to many in the country.
