Toyota poised to become World’s biggest car manufacturer in 2012

Thanks to the Thailand factories getting submerged in the Tsunami, Toyota saw GM overtaking it to bag the title of World’s biggest manufacturer in 2011.

Toyota has however bounced back and how! CNN reports the Japanese automaker will have sold 9.7 million vehicles in 2012. Compared to last year, this is a 22 rise. GM will manage to sell only 9.3 million vehicles and hence will have to settle below Toyota. With an estimate of 9 million vehicles sold, Volkswagen will have to settle for the third spot.

Toyota has set a target of 9.9 million car sales in 2013 and looks poised to continue being on top for at least some years to come.
