Toyota Innova Crysta Scores 4 Stars in ASEAN NCAP

Essentially a people mover in our country, the Toyota Innova is the preferred choice by families for those airport trips. It seats 6-7 passengers and can also carry luggage on the overhead carrier. But Toyota India wants to change this image with the new Innova Crysta which is aimed at private buyers and hence safety is a crucial factor.

Recently, ASEAN NCAP conducted a crash test of the new Toyota Innova Crysta which will be launching in the Indian market this year. The Innova Crysta scored 4 stars in the overall safety rating since ESC is not available as standard in the ASEAN-spec 2016 Innova sourced from Indonesia for the crash test. The car also scored 76 percent in Child Occupant Protection (COP), making it eligible to feature in the 4-star category. With ESC available on top-end trim, the Innova Crysta scored 5 star safety rating in Adult Occupant Protection.

The Innova Crysta will be powered by an all new 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder diesel engine from Toyota’s new GD family. The engine is good for around 150 hp and 340 Nm of torque and will be mated to an optional 6-speed auto transmission. Safety features on offer include standard airbags, ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Brake Assist standard on all grades.

With some dealers unofficially commencing the bookings, the launch of the vehicle in the Indian market doesn’t seem too far. Stay tuned to Motoroids for more dope on the Innova Crysta India launch and other details.
