Toyota India unveils the new Rumion: Launch Soon!

Toyota India has unveiled the new 7-seater MPV known as the Rumion. The Rumion is a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and it will sit below Innova Crysta.

Like the Glanza, the Rumion will be manufactured by Maruti Suzuki as a part of their joint venture. However, the carmaker will announce the booking and pricing details of the Rumion soon.

How different is Toyota Rumion than Maruti Suzuki Ertiga?

The overall design of the new Toyota Rumion is similar to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. However, the Rumion gets several changes to differentiate it from Ertiga.

For starters, the new Rumion gets a new gloss black grille with Toyota Logo and a new bumper. The MPV also gets chrome surrounds on the new fog lamp housing, grille, and air dam.

Meanwhile, the new Rumion rides on stylish dual-tone alloy wheels. The MPV also gets chrome highlights on the tailgate. Apart from this, the side profile and the rear is largely similar to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

Interior and Features in Toyota Rumion

Like the exterior, the interior design of the Rumion is identical to the Ertiga. The MPV gets blacked out dashboard with wooden inserts and darkened upholstery.

The Rumion will get safety features such as 6-Airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, ESP, Hill Assist, Seat Belt Reminder, Overspeed Alert, Parking Sensors, etc.

Meanwhile, the features list of MPV is similar to the Ertiga. It gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Auto AC, wireless Apple Carplay, Android Auto, Toyota i-Connect connected car tech, etc.

The MPV also gets a TFT Digital instrument display which shows fuel consumption, power, torque, gear indicator, CNG time, etc. However, the other features include keyless start, keyless entry, cruise control, paddle shifters, etc.

Powertrain Details

The new Toyota Rumion gets various engine options including the Petrol and CNG versions. Like the Ertiga, the Rumion also gets a 1.5L 4-cylinder Naturally Aspirated K-Series Engine.

The Petrol version produces 103hp of power and 137nm of torque output. However, the CNG version produces 88hp of power and 122nm of torque.

The Petrol-only version of Rumion is available with the options of a 5-Speed Manual and a 6-Speed Automatic Gearbox. While the CNG version is available with the 5-Speed Manual Gearbox only.

Also, Toyota has revealed the claimed fuel efficiency of the Rumion which is mentioned below:

  • Petrol MT – 20.51 km/l
  • Petrol AT – 20.11 km/l
  • The CNG – 26.11 km/kg

Pricing, Warranty, and Rivals

Toyota will reveal the launch, pricing and booking details of the Rumion in the coming weeks. Moreover, the company offers a standard warranty of 3 years or 1 Lakh kilometres.

After the launch, Toyota Rumion will compete with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Renault Triber, Kia Carens, and Mahindra Marazzo in the market.
