Toyota Etios X taxi variant launched in Brazil

The Toyota Etios sedan and Etios Liva hatchback haven’t really been able to take their respective segments in Indian car market by storm. Pretty similar is the story in the Brazilian car market, where the Etios duo is not really leading the sales charts.

The Etios duo has not really been successful in being as popular as the better looking and better equipped rivals in the Brazil car market. The Hyundai HB20 and Chevrolet Onix hatchbacks outsell the Etios Liva hatchback by quite a huge margin. With the advent of the Hyundai HB20S and Chevrolet Prisma sedans, future doesn’t really look bright for the Toyota Etios sedan.

It seems like Toyota realizes that the Etios doesn’t have the aesthetic appeal to compete with the new rivals and has hence, decided to take a plunge into the taxi segment for boosting the sales performance of the slow selling sedan. The new Toyota Etios Sedan X, which is basically the taxi variant, has been launched in the fast growing Brazilian car market.

The taxi spec Etios gets basic features like air con, power steering, dual airbags and ABS. The Etios Sedan X goes on sale with a price tag of 28,938 Brazilian Reals, which is around INR 6.6 lakhs.
