A few weeks ago, we brought to you the first scoop picture of the Toyota Etios Sedan being tested in India. Not much time after that, more pictures of the car being tested in Chandigarh floated across the internet. The firm has now stated that the car will be launched by the end of this year or early 2011.
“Etios will be launched by December or January in Indian market and after it meets its expected target of sale, it will be exported. The company is looking at sales volume of 70,000 units in the first year,” said Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) Managing Director Mr Hiroshi Nakagawa. He however, refused to comment on the price of the car. The firm had been relying on its already prevalent models such as the Corolla, Fortuner and Innova which have a limited consumer market but, the firm will now concentrate on the small car market too, revealed the Chief of TMC for India.
Nakagawa also expressed his interest to expand Toyota’s business in the small car segment in India as India is one of the fastest growing markets for cars of the particular segment. He also revealed that the firm would start its second manufacturing plant in Bangalore.
