From the times when the most powerful bike officially on sale in India used to be a 223cc, single cylinder offering with less than 20bhp on tap, to present day, when the Kawasaki ZX14R, arguably the most lethal production-spec motorcycle in the world, is available in the country, Indian bike aficionados are fast getting spoilt for choice! However, while we do have many high performance motorcycles on sale here, there still exists a gap in the line up of performance bikes on sale in the country. As most of you would have guessed it, it is the 600cc bikes that have remained conspicuous by their absence in India. Here, we’ve come up with a small list of three 600cc bikes India needs to get. Yamaha YZF-R6

Arguably the best 600cc bike ever, the Yamaha YZF-R6 also tops our wish list here. Powering the Yamaha YZF-R6 is a 599 cc, DOHC, 16 valve, 4 cylinder motor that has a max power of 121.9 Bhp @ 14,500 Rpm and peak torque of 65.7 Nm at 10,500 Rpm.

Kawasaki ZX-6R

While the Kawasaki ZX-14R and the Kawasaki ZX-10R are already here, Indian homologation process for bikes in 600-800cc category ensures that Kawasaki has been wary of bringing its highly appreciated 600cc supersports contender to us. Powering this bike is a 636cc, four cylinder engine that has a max power of 132 Bhp @ 13,500 Rpm and peak torque of 70.5 Nm @ 11,500 Rpm.

Suzuki GSX-R600

Easily among the most successful supersport bikes in the world of motorsports, the Gixxer 600 offers an amalgam of precision associated with track focused bikes and the thrills that come from an inline-four faired motorcycle. Powering the bike is a 599cc, 4 stroke, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that has a max power of 124 Bhp @ 13,500 Rpm and peak torque of 69.11 Nm @ 11,500 Rpm.

    HI all .

    I have been hearing this bullshit form yamaha,kawasaki,suzuki and honda that they will launch their 600 cc four cylinder bikes in india since 2011 and till now they are not able to do,feel ashamed to be in a such a big county where,we dont have options to buy a 600 cc sports bike,where as small countries like thailand,malasiya have all the catogeries of bikes..I think these compannies have to think and do something to launch as trumiph has already come up with daytona 675r model,but its a three cylinder..

  • Well, I wanted this post to include just three supersport machines. In retrospect though, the 600RR should have been there.
