The Honda jazz which witnessed a facelift not so long ago is due for a complete model replacement. Numerous renderings have been doing the rounds on the Internet, but this image you see here is how the new generation Jazz or the Fit will most likely look like. These images of the next generation Jazz have allegedly leaked into a magazine from where the scans you see here have percolated from into the web world.
The design of the new Jazz, which is a grounds-up model, is similar yet different when compared with the current gen model. The nose resembles the new Civic with a unified, wide looking grille and elongated headlamps. The front bumper looks much more aggressive than the current model with bigger central and side air dams.
In profile, the new Jazz has a prominent inward crease which is opposite in shape and position to that of the recently introduced Mercedes B-Class. We are not too impressed with that design element – it doesn’t look refined enough and is somewhat passé for us. The roofline drops in a coupe like fashion to cover up the enormous volume that this big hatch will cover. There is a quarter glass up front and the rear window glass has a blacked out section after it.
Things get more interesting at the rear where the tail-lamp cluster is an all-new design. The tail-lamps taper into a vertical assembly as they rise up from above the bumper into the C-Pillars. They remind us somewhat of some Volvos for some reason. A massive horizontal chrome slat houses the Honda emblem. A huge bumper has two cavities looking like air dams meant solely for cosmetic purposes.
On the inside, the leaked picture is that of the instrument console. The new instrument console is taken from an auto transmission car showing the engaged drive mode, also with a display for energy recuperation. The speedo is brand new too. The Honda petal sign under the speedo will measure how much fuel you can save while being behind the wheel. There will also be a hybrid version of the car, which in all probability will not make it to India.
Engine options for the Indian market may include the 1.2 i-VTEC with better efficiency and probably a little more power. There is all the possibility that the next gen Jazz may feature the new 1.5 Earth Dreams diesel engine for the Indian market. This will give Honda another weapon to hit the market below the Amaze.
There will be spinoffs of the Jazz hatchback in the form of a crossover and a people mover. Both of these variants have a good probability of making it to India, as discreetly mentioned by the Honda management a few months back.
