New 2014 Hyundai Elantra caught testing: Spy images and details

New 2014 Hyundai Elantra facelift (1)

The highly successful Hyundai Elantra is due for its mid life facelift in a few months’ time. The beautiful looking car which is currently the bestseller in its segment will soon get a cosmetic update. The test mules of the upgrade have been spotted in America.

In its face lifted avatar, the Neo Fluidic Elantra is slated to get some changes at the front and rear end. Expect minor alterations to be made to the headlamps, radiator grille and air dams up front and a new tail-lamp cluster and redesigned bumpers at the rear. The images don’t show the middle section of the car camouflaged, which means that Hyundai plans to leave the doors of the car untouched for the refreshed model.

The interiors may also get a refresh with change in materials and colours in places. It wouldn’t be an overhaul though. Some extra features may be added too.

We expect the engine lineup to remain unchanged for the refreshed lineup. Powering the Elantra facelift will be 1.8 liter petrol and a 1.6 liter diesel as on the current models. Manual and automatic transmission from the current lineup will be carried over to the new version.

The current Elantra is a beautiful looking by a fair margin in its segment. We hope Hyundai handle the details with care and don’t end up spoiling the looks of the car in the process of refreshing it.
