Official Statement

Mr Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “The second generation of the all-new BMW S 1000 R is designed as a power-packed roadster with supreme riding dynamics, athletic character combined with maximum safety and everyday practicality. We are delighted to offer yet another masterpiece for riding enthusiasts in India. It is a unique blend between fast sporty runs and track-day fun.”

Design

The new-gen S 1000 R derived from its faired cousin the S 1000 RR is more masculine and sharper than the outgoing bike. The new body elements along with its nose down – tail up design make the motorcycle a visual treat. The designers have cleverly added a stylized ‘R’ made up of the fuel tank side panels, the tank center cover, the side panels of the bike. The engine spoiler also has been redesigned. The bike is now available in three colour options namely, Racing Red, Hockenheim Silver Metallic and Light White/M Motorsport. The latter will be available only with the Pro M Sport version.

The engine puts out 165 hp of peak power at 11,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm. The new S 1000 R  has shed a few kilos to make it lighter than the outgoing R. It also gets a newly engineered suspension setup. The lighter weight and the new suspension significantly improve the riding dynamics of the motorcycle. It features a ‘Flex Frame’ which is the optimum interplay between the frame design and the engine as a load-bearing element. It improves the aerodynamics of the motorcycle and helps keep the weight low.
