- New Tata Zest to come with Automated Manual Transmission
- Zest to go on sale with turbo petrol and turbo diesel motor
We reported in detail when the new Tata Zest compact sedan was unveiled prior to the Auto Expo 2014. CLICK HERE for our earlier report on the Tata Zest compact sedan. Earlier, we has spied the car on test with some changes to the front fascia in Pune. Now, some more images of the upcoming car have hit the web.
The new Tata Zest will come with a new front fascia. The car will boast of a new front grille, different from the one on the car showed prior to the Auto Expo. The car seen here in the pics features twin chrome slats running across it, rather than the honeycomb mesh design of the show car’s grille.
As per the boffins at Tata Motors, the name Zest “signifies enthusiasm for life, for the sense of excitement, anticipation, and energy it brings, approaching life as an adventure. It is all about being vivacious and energetic”. Similar to the new Bolt hatchback, the Zest has been designed byTata Motors design studios in Pune (India), Coventry (UK) and Turin (Italy).
The new Tata Zest will be powered by an all-new 1.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder Revotron motor that churns out 85 PS of max power @ 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 140 Nm @ 1,750-3,000 rpm. The diesel variant will be powered by the tried and tested 1.3-liter Fiat-sourced Quadrajet common rail turbo diesel engine that has a max power of 90 PS @ 4,000 rpm and peak torque of 200 Nm @ 1,750-3,000 rpm. The petrol motor will come mated to an automated manual transmission.
