Tata Tiago And Tigor JTP To Be Upgraded With A Better Infotainment System Soon

Arguably the most sought after connectivity apps in the market, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay were missing on the most affordable hot hatch and sedan of the country. Both the JTP variants of the Tata Tiago and Tigor miss out on this rather important features despite having a touch-enabled infotainment screen on offer. The regular Tiago and Tigor too, missed out on this feature until very recently. With the regular variants of the cars allowing you to connect your smartphones very easily, Tata will soon offer these two powerful machines with this additional feature as well, along with the larger, 7-inch infotainment system. Currently, the JTPs get the smaller 5-inch infotainment screen as standard.

Pertaining to a niche market, the JTP models have been a joint effort of Tata Motors and Jayhem Automotives. While many more JTP variants of Tata cars are expected to be launched, the Tiago and Tigor are the first ones to receive this treatment. Both the Tiago and Tigor, in the JTP avatar use a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine. This motor is tuned by Jayhem Automotives and comes with a small blow-off valve as well to enhance the aural experience. The inline-3 cylinder motor develops 114 PS at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 150 Nm at 2,000 – 4,000 rpm.

The JTP models have very subtle styling differences, making them pretty much sleeper vehicles. To put the extra power on the ground, the cars have been given 15-inch alloy wheels with wider, 185 section tyres. Other styling differences are the blacked out roof and mirrors, larger grille, revised bumpers and a tiny bonnet scoop. The JTPs also sit 4 mm lower than the standard cars and have a ground clearance of 166 mm. Apart from the dimensions and shape, both the Tiago and Tigor share the same suspension and steering hardware as well. The extra dimensions make the Tigor a heavier vehicle tipping the scales at 1,051 kg while the Tiago is lighter at 1,016 kg. Currently, the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP retail at INR 6.39 L and INR 7.5 L respectively (Both prices are ex-showroom). Linked below is our review of these two peppy cars, do have a look.
