Tata Indica and Indigo eCS CNG variants launched

Popular Indian CV and passenger car maker, Tata Motors, recently launched the CNG variants of the very successful Indica hatchback and Indigo eCS compact sedan. You would remember that these CNG variants were earlier showcased at the Horizonext event that was held in June this year.

Christened as the ‘emax’, the CNG variants of the Indica and Indigo eCS can be bought in Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Tripura.

The Tata Indigo eCS compact sedan is powered by a 1.2 litre petrol engine that has a max power of 65 hp and peak torque of 100 Nm (in petrol mode) and max power of 56 hp and peak torque of 90 Nm (in CNG mode).

Fuel efficiency is being claimed to be 24.6 km/kg on CNG, which means that the car has a range of 230 km when running on the natural gas. On petrol, it has a range of 650 kms. The new Tata Indigo eCS emax has gone on sale in two trim levels –

GLS- Priced at INR 4.99 lakhs

GLX- Priced at INR 5.27 lakhs

The Indica CNG too is powered by the same 1.2 litre petrol motor. However, thanks to additional weight, the Indica emax has a lower claimed fuel economy of 23.7 km/kg. Akin to the Indigo eCS CNG, the Indica CNG too is available in two trim levels-

GLS- Priced at INR 3.99 lakhs

GLX- Priced at INR 4.26 lakhs
