Suzuki Escudo showcased at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show – Is it old wine in a new bottle?

The Suzuki Escudo, codenamed the iv.4, also known as the Suzuki Vitara in certain markets, has been showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2015. The concept was earlier showcased at the Paris Motor Show back in 2014. According to the specifications, there are two engine options – the 1.6 liter petrol and 1.6 liter diesel engine – which will give peak power outputs of 156 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm respectively. Both the models get a 5 speed manual transmission as standard and a 6 speed automatic transmission as an option.

The overall length of the car is 4175 mm, the width is 1775 mm and the height is 1610 mm. Wheelbase stands at 2500 mm and the car has a ground clearance of 185 mm. It will be available in 2 Wheel Drive as well as 4 wheel drive. The car lists a number of after-market accessories which will be sold by the dealership itself.

This model will also come equipped with features such as climate control, automatic LED headlamps, 17-inch wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel, key-less entry, start-stop button, leather upholstery and a touch screen infotainment system. Safety features include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Radar Brake Support (RBS). The fuel tank has a capacity of 47 liters. The car will be available in 7 color options.
