Suzuki Authentics to go into production into late 2014

Suzuki Authentics Launch

We reported in detail when the boffins at Suzuki took the wraps off the Authentics concept recently. Now, it has emerged that the Joint Venture between Japanese auto maker and Chinese partner Changan intend to kick start the production of the production spec Suzuki Authentics in late 2014.

It has also emerged that the next generation of the Suzuki SX4, which is based on the S-Cross Concept, will get into production in late 2013.

What no one currently knows is if the production spec Authentics would be the sedan version of the new generation SX4. However, we won’t be too surprised to see the Authentics Concept spawning the all new SX4 sedan.

Suzuki has already announced that the Authentics Concept is a preview of a new C-Segment car. Production spec Authentics will be sold in China and in other developing markets like that of India. Suzuki has used the words “Sporty x Elegant”, “long wheelbase” and “low overall height” to describe the Authentics Concept.

It is being said that the production spec car would get a different interior and will be powered by a set of 1.6 litre gasoline and diesel engines that would be mated to 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine could also get a CVT transmission.

The Authentics concept measures 4,600mm in length, 1,815mm in width and 1,390mm in height.  The concept sedan has a wheelbase of 2750mm.

We won’t be too surprised to see Maruti Suzuki launching the production spec Authentics in India to battle it out against the Honda City and the likes in the fast growing C segment of our car market.
