Not content with your Diwali bonus? Here’s something to make you feel worse. As a token of appreciation for the hard work that his employees put in, Savji Dholakia, owner of Surat-based Hare Krishna Exports, has gifted 400 flats and 1,260 cars as Diwali gifts to them. Mr. Dholakia reportedly spent as much as INR 51 Crores to procure these gifts, ousting his previous year’s performance of gifting 491 cars and 200 flats to his employees.

This was from last year

The bonuses were announced at an informal meeting of employees on Tuesday. Hare Krishna Exports, a diamond manufacturing and exporting company, is known to be generous with Diwali bonuses since 2011. And this year, they outdid themselves once again. The employees were collectively gifted 1260 cars including Maruti Suzuki Alto 800’s and Datsun Redi-Go’s as opposed to 491 units of the Fiat Grande Punto in the previous year. That’s why October 2015 still shows a blip in Fiat India’s sales.

Savji Dholakia is reputed to be a self-made man in his circles, considering he established and grew his diamond business using a loan from his uncle. Today, Hare Krishna Exports has its manufacturing unit at Surat, and its marketing and sales office in Mumbai. The company exports finished diamonds to more than 50 countries directly from Mumbai, and even has affiliates in the US, Belgium, UAE, Hong Kong and China. I have one question. Are they hiring?
