India’s largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra, which owns the SsangYong, will be launching a new variant of the Rexton SUV. Named as the RX6, the new variant will be positioned between the entry level RX5 and the top-end RX7 variants.
With the RX6 variant, Mahindra will be offering all the features of the RX7 variant which comes mated to an automatic transmission. The RX6 variant of the Rexton will come with the same manual transmission from the entry level RX5.
The RX6 variant of the Rexton will supposedly come with features such as :
- 8 way electrically adjustable driver’s seat
- Automatic day/night functions on the inner rear view mirror
- Leather seats
- Leather wrapped steering wheel
- Memory function with three presets for driver seat and wing mirrors
- Electric Sunroof with sunblind
- Cruise Control
- Automatic headlamps
- Rain sensing wipers
- All wheel drive system
- LED daytime-running lamps and LED tail-lamps
Powering the Rexton is the Daimler sourced 2.7 liter-5 cylinder turbo diesel engine which churns out 162 bhp of max power and 340 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to the 5 speed manual gearbox.
The Ssanyong Rexton has failed to set the sales charts on fire for the Korean brand. With the RX6, Mahindra is trying to improve the sales of the SUV by providing all the features to the people who want to go for a manual transmission Rexton.
