Ford previewed the updated model of the EcoSport at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and the facelifted crossover was launched in the European market recently. The new facelifted Ford EcoSport gets exterior and interior alterations and the test mule that’s been caught doesn’t come with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. In the European market, the updated Ford EcoSport can be had with or without the tail-gate mounted spare wheel.
The Euro-spec model misses out on roof rails
It remains to be seen if Ford has changed the location of the spare tyre, or is offering customers a tyre puncture repair kit. The American carmaker has also revised the design of the tailgate, so in case you find yourself in a tight spot, it can now be opened partially. It also appears that Ford has redesigned the bumpers and the rear one on this test car even wears a skid plate, though it misses out on the roof rails. The test car is also seen with fancy 5-spoke Euro-spec alloy wheels that look the part.

On the inside, Ford’s updated SYNC entertainment system now gets a new 4-inch colour display. The other changes include chrome detailing on several surfaces such as the instrument dials, power window switches etc. Ford also claims to have improved the EcoSport’s cabin NVH levels with this new model, and is likely to have tweaked the crossover’s powerplants. This could very well result in more power and increased efficiency. The Euro-spec model now rides lower and gets an updated stability control system, suspension and steering setup. The facelifted Ford EcoSport for Europe is made at the carmaker’s Chennai facility. However, Ford hasn’t announced any launch date of the updated EcoSport in India.
