The Aprilia SR 150 is scheduled to reach dealerships in India by August 2016 but it won’t be the only new Italian scooter to roll on the Indian tarmac in the foreseeable future. One of our friends and fellow readers informed us about a Benelli scooter being tested on NH4, near Pune, India. The test mule was scantily camouflaged and seemed quite production ready and we would not be surprised to see this new scooter on DSK-Benelli India’s product page, if at all it is scheduled to arrive in the sub-continent.
We could not confirm the model but it appears to be one of the XT scooters from Benelli’s portfolio. The maxi-scooter inspired design flaunts a muscular body, a massive windscreen upfront, five-spoke alloy wheels, disc brake upfront and a beefy exhaust. The ergonomics look quite comfortable and city friendly, with the the tall windscreen providing protection against windblasts on the occasional highway runs. The details are quite limited at this moment but the scooter, as the name suggest, will be powered by a 150cc motor. It would be too early to comment upon the performance numbers though.
DSK-Benelli did not make any announcement about a scooter joining its product range for the Indian market at the recently concluded motoring events and thus we really cannot comment much about the launch period.
