Skoda is inches away from launching its flagship sedan, the Superb. To be revealed on 17th February in Prague, the highly acclaimed limo has been teased one last time by Skoda before its official debut. Featuring a dark top shot and focusing primarily on the front fascia elements like headlamps and grille, the teaser emphasizes the “crystalline lights, perfect radii, sharp edges and lines” of the car, according to the official statement.
Influenced heavily by the VisionC concept, and based on the Volkswagen Passat, the new Superb will be larger than anything else in the segment, presenting itself as the most spacious car in the category. Skoda is calling the new limo the “best Skoda ever”, raising the expectations from a car which is already known to over-deliver. The Superb will dump the dual release mechanism of its boot to adopt a notchback shape and will feature a boot capacity of 625 liters. The expansive cabin of the car will benefit immensely from the 80mm increase in the wheelbase, and make it fit to create a small football ground for the kids inside the cabin.
Under the bonnet, the new Superb will get four-pot motors. We expect the 2.0 liter TDI and 1.8 liter TSI motors to continue doing duty on the new model with slight increase in output. Transmission duties will be taken care of by 6 and 7 speed DSG units for diesel and petrol models respectively.
