Seen here is a Skoda test vehicle that was spotted testing on public roads of Mladá Boleslav, Czechoslovakia. While it is nothing but a good news that the VW Group owned Czech auto maker is busy with the development of a new vehicle, what baffles us is the fact that no one knows which model could this car be.
There are many who are of the opinion that the test mule could be of the Skoda Rapid Spaceback – a Rapid with an estate-like rear. We won’t be too surprised if this actually is the case as Skoda is pretty famous for well sorted out estate variants of its sedans. The Rapid Estate could fill in the gap that prevails between the Fabia Combi and the Octavia Combi.
Also, as can be made out from these pics, the test mule’s front end has striking similarity with the international spec Rapid. The headlamps seem to have been lifted from the Rapid and same seems to be the case with the fog lights. The wheel arches too hint at this car being an upcoming variant of the Rapid.
However, there is another section of auto enthusiasts who are of the opinion that this car could be the estate variant of the next generation Fabia. The new Fabia is expected to make its public debut early next year and will be based on the VW’s much publicized MQB platform. The car will not just be more spacious but will be lighter and will have better road manners.
