2014 Skoda Octavia Combi Showcased at Geneva Motor Show

It is no secret that Station Wagons/Estates have never found favour in the fast growing Indian car market. We all know that the earlier generation of the Skoda Octavia Combi that was launched in India couldn’t find much takers and the carmaker was compelled to pull the plug on the slow selling Estate variant of the Octavia sedan.

However, station wagons have always been popular in the European market and most car makers make it a point to introduce estate body variants of their popular sedans in Europe.

The new Skoda Octavia, which was unveiled earlier, is an important car for the VW Group owned Czech automaker and looks poised to bring in a lot of customers to the Czech auto brand. Skoda has now showcased the 2014 Skoda Octavia Combi at the Geneva Motor Show.

The 2014 Skoda Octavia Combi looks bog similar to the sedan variant till the B pillars, after which the car comes with different rear doors and a different rear end because of the Estate body variant.

The new Octavia Combi is based on modified MQB platform that makes the car 45mm wider and 90mm longer than its predecessor. The new Skoda Octavia Combi has 610 litres of boot space which can be increased to 1,740 litres on folding the rear seats. Increasing the practicality quotient are thoughtful touches such as the double sided floor mat, multiple bag hooks, a waste bin and numerous bottle holders. The car also comes equipped with Driver Activity Assistant that detects fatigue and alerts the driver. Other such features include Proactive Crew Protect Assistant, Lane Assistant. Adaptive Cruise Assistant and Intelligent light assistant
