The 23rd SJOBA Thunderbolt Rally 2010 began with an exciting start on Friday afternoon with the Autocross Show at the exhibition grounds in Sector 34 in which all 101 rallyists participated. A special close circuit six meter track was created on which drivers zipped around, negotiating hair pin bends and leaving behind clouds of dust. Each team completed two laps on this circuit and their overall timings will be added to the final result.
In this event, Team 1 which had Suresh Rana and Ashwin Naik in the Gypsy, overcooked a sharp turn and their vehicle overturned. The SJOBA Quick Reaction Team plunged in and within 30 seconds the team was back on circuit and raced to finish their two laps in 2:02:01.
At the end of two laps, it was the team of Sandeep Sharma and Rashid Raza which got the fastest time of 1:33:73. Sunny Sidhu and Surender Kumar Nandal came in second with a time of 1:33:73 while team of Harpreet Bawa and Inderpreet Singh Brar clocked in a time of 1:35:17 to secure the third spot. In Cars, the fastest was the team of Jagbir Singh Nirwan and Shivkaran Singh Mokha with 1:37:92 while the team of Udaibir Sangha and Jagmohan Singh clocked 1:39:69 for the second spot. In third place were Samrat Yadav and Varun Sachdeva with 1:39:98. In the bikes category, Maninder Singh Prince was the fastest with 1:42:72, Rajan Sidhu second with 1:43:16, while Saajanpreet Singh was third with 1:48:49.
