Shreya Iyer joins TVS Racing; becomes first woman rider to represent the team in Indian National Rally championship

TVS Racing signed their first woman rider – Shreya Sunder Iyer, to race for their team. She will be part of the TVS Racing team in Indian National Rally championship this year. With this association, Shreya also becomes the first woman rider to be a part of any racing team in India.

Shreya, 24, has a dream of building a career in motor racing. She began riding at the age of 17 and became the first Indian woman rider to successfully complete a ride across the sand dunes in Dubai. Shreya has also ridden extensively across India including Suru valley in the Himalayas and also completed a rigorous Southern India biking expedition of 2,000 kilometers in just 6 days. She intends to build a career in cross country rally racing. This season of the Indian National Rally championship she will be riding the TVS Apache RTR. Shreya is a graduate from Mount Carmel College and currently works as a freelance designer. She is also a trained classical singer and dancer.

The newly inducted member of the TVS Racing team said that she is proud to be a part of the team. This association will help her work with the best in class machines, racers and technology. She also added that she hopes to encourage young bikers especially women to follow their passion for racing and live their dreams.

Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Pangaonkar, Head of Team TVS Racing said, “We are happy to sign Shreya for the TVS Racing team and believe that her participation will encourage women to consider racing as a career. TVS Racing is strongly committed to promote two-wheeler racing in India and generate interest and improve support for the sport in India. We make continuous efforts to take the sport to as many section of the society as possible and create the ultimate machine and promote the riders for these machines.”
