Regulars here would remember that we recently reported that last month this year was the best-selling month ever for German premium car maker Mercedes. Now, it has emerged that September 2013 was also the best ever month in terms of sales for arch rival BMW.

During September 2013, BMW (please note- sales from MINI, Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorrad haven’t been taken into account) sold as many as 158,029 cars. This translates into a 7.6 percent increase on comparison with sales from carmaker in September 2012 (the auto maker sold 146,852 cars in corresponding month last year. )

Much of the increased sales is courtesy the better sales performance from 3-Series, sales of which witnessed a 13.9 percent increase from 39,304 units in Sept 2012 to 44,752 units in Sept 2013.

In current year, the Bavarian car maker has managed to sell as many as 1,209,598 cars, which translates into a nine percent growth in sales. 2013 has also witnessed an increased demand for models such as the X1, X3, 5-Series and 6-Series.

MINI too registered its best ever September sales performance this year. It sold 31,313 cars (up by 2.5 percent on comparison with Sept 2012.) this year. This is not all as BMW Motorrad too recorded its best ever September this year by selling as many as 9,265 bikes (up by 0.5 percent on comparison with Sept 2012 sales)

Rolls Royce’s September sales were up by 0.5 percent when compared to the same month of 2012.
