Scoop: Honda silently imports WW125F scooter for R&D purpose in India

It does not take rocket science to realise that the Indian automobile market is growing rapidly. Global players are not only selling mass production products but are also offering premium ones to the Indian consumers.

Honda’s official premium product offering list in India till date is limited to the CBR250R, which is a quarter-litre sports motorcycle from the Japanese manufacturer. A higher capacity CBR300R and the naked CB300F will most likely hit the Indian market by the end of this year.

But what’s coming up might just change the look of 125cc scooter segment. No, we are not late to report the Honda Activa 125. The upcoming scooter will be a premium product from Honda’s stable.

Motoroids India got its hands on an import list of motorcycles. One product that was imported by Honda Motorcycles for R&D purposes in India is the WW125F. The WW125F is a 125cc engined scooter, which will deliver power output figure in the vicinity of 10-11 bhp. Currently, Honda sells the WW125F in the European market. The images of import receipts were provided by avid Motoroids India follower MVKSS Sandeep.

Earlier, Kinetic had made attempts to introduce a scooter of this class in India with the Italiano series. However, the company failed miserably because of the huge price tag and low fuel efficiency figures.

Now, with rising consumer interest and buying capacity, such products may just do the trick for the Japanese manufacturer. We hope that Honda manufactures this scooter locally to reduce the rather hefty price tag that flashes at the right of the photograph because at Rs 1,78,414, a person in India can select from a range of motorcycles and still save a great amount of money for accessories and fuel.

The expected launch date for the WW125F is still not known. We assume Honda will test this motorcycle thoroughly and perhaps launch it sometime later next year.

Stay tuned to Motoroids for further updates and do share your thoughts on this scooter.
