First showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo held in the Delhi-NCR region, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS has been spied during its public road tests on quite a few occasions. Now, If a recent report is to be believed, the Baleno RS will come mated to a six speed automatic transmission equipped with paddle shifters.

Once launched, the Baleno RS will be the second model in its segment after the Honda Jazz to offer paddle shifters with an automatic transmission. The model, just like the standard Baleno, will be sold through the Nexa outlets. This feature is likely to be available only in the top-end trim.
Another feature that differentiates the Baleno RS from the regular model include a new 1.0 litre boosterjet petrol engine. The global spec model is tuned to produce 110 hp and 170 Nm of torque which sends power to the wheels via five speed manual transmission. This engine will deliver a better power output and fuel efficiency as compared to the current 1.2 litre petrol motor on the standard Baleno.

Also on offer will be a body kit, disc brakes and blacked out alloy wheels. The Baleno RS, which is likely to be launched during the festive season, will command a price tag of about Rs. 10 lakh. Once launched, the model will rival the Fiat Abarth Punto and the Volkswagen Polo GTI.
