A few weeks ago we got you the news that Suzuki India began assembling its flagship model, the Hayabusa. This move by the Japan based manufacturer made the 1300cc motorcycle affordable by Rs. 2.3 lakhs. Now, if reports are believed, Kawasaki India is considering on bringing the Z800 down to India through the CKD route.

Once finalized, the Z800 would be assembled at the company’s plant in Pune, Maharashtra and could bring a significant price reduction for the model. Reports suggest that the price cut could hover in the range of about Rs. 1 lakh. The move, if and when implemented, would push the demand for the Z800 that already has a healthy sales report.

It was noted that when Kawasaki India reduced the prices of the Z800 on an earlier occasion by Rs.50,000, the company saw a sudden spurt in the demand for the motorcycle. The Z800 is currently available in India and comes via the CBU route from Thailand with a price tag of Rs. 8.3 lakhs (Ex-Showroom).

This engine sends power to the rear wheel with the help of a 6 speed transmission. Rivals to the Z800 include the Honda CBR 650F and the Triumph Street triple.

If everything goes as planned, the Z800 will join the list of the Z250, Ninja 300, Ninja 650, ER-6n, Versys 650 which currently come to India through the CKD route.  Expect a price cut in the range of Rs.1 lakh after the official announcement.
