While the Honda CBR250RR is still some distance away from being production ready, rumour mill has it that this upcoming quarter-litre motorcycle from the Japanese two-wheeler maker will come equipped with ride-by-wire technology. Apart from the ride by wire technology that will replace the customary cable mechanism, the new CBR250RR will also be reportedly equipped with LED headlamps.
Showcased at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, the cockpit of the Honda CBR250RR reveals a 14,000 rpm redline that is higher than the current generation CBR250R. Although the engine specs have not been revealed, the bike is expected to be powered by a 250 cc engine mated to a six speed gearbox. Coming to the design aspect, the fuel tank gets a layered wrap of panels with the refueller in carbon fibre finish, so is the front fender, side panels and the unified rear tyre hugger and chain guard in the concept model.

Also seen in the concept bike were LED DRLs above the large air scoops apart from a split LED tail light. These air scoops will now be reportedly replaced by LED headlamps that will compliment the aforementioned features of the CBR250RR. Suspension duties on the bike will be taken care of by inverted telescopic forks upfront and a linked Ohlins monoshock at the rear end. One can also expect ABS to be equipped as a standard feature. Braking duties will be performed by petal disc brakes at both ends.

The CBR 250RR is expected to enter the production cycle in Indonesia by March 2016. It is very unlikely that this new quarter-litre will come to the Indian shores. If Honda does consider bringing the CBR250RR to India, it would compete against the Kawasaki Ninja 300, The Yamaha R3 and the BMW G310R.
