Rumour Mill: Benelli BN 302R India Launch In May 2017

If reports are to be believed, DSK Benelli plans to launch the Tornado 302R in India next month. Although no official launch date has been revealed by the Indian arm of Benelli, it is said that the motorcycle has received the required clearances from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).

A fully faired version of the TNT300 that is currently available in India, the India-spec Tornado 302R, which will be known as the BN 302R, features no visual changes over the global spec model although the engine of the motorcycle will be tuned to comply with the BS-IV emission norms. Suspension duties will be taken care care of by Upside Down (USD) forks at the front and a monoshock setup at the rear.

As compared to its naked sibling, the Benelli BN 302R is based on a lighter chassis. The front fascia of the motorcycle will receive a new fairing and a split headlamp setup while the posterior will remain similar to that of the TNT300.

Powering the model will be the same 300cc, liquid cooled parallel twin engine as seen on the TNT300. This motor will be capable of producing 35 bhp at 12000 rpm and 27 Nm of torque at 9000 rpm. This engine will send power to the rear wheel via six speed gearbox. It is believed that ABS will be offered as a standard feature. Once launched in India, the Benelli BN 302R will rival the Kawasaki Ninja 300, Yamaha R3 and the KTM RC390. Stay tuned for more updates.
