If a new report is to be believed, Maruti Suzuki plans to begin production of the 7 seater WagonR in India in September next year. The Suzuki Solio, which is based on the WagonR, was also spotted testing in the country hinting that the model could be launched in India.
The report suggests that Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the 7 seater WagonR is confirmed for the Indian market and the company is evaluating the chances of launching the model around the month of November this year. The model, as we mentioned earlier, is a 7 seater model based on the WagonR and is comes under the sub 4-meter category.
In International markets such as Japan, where the model is known as the Suzuki Solio, the model is available with a 1.2-litre, four cylinder petrol hybrid engine. This engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 90 hp and 118 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are taken care of by a five speed AMT gearbox as standard. The engine specifications for the Indian model are scarce at the moment although Maruti could carry forward the engines which are currently on sale with the standard variant of the WagonR.
