We’ve all experienced that sudden jolt of anxiety after parking our car – that gut feeling that something isn’t right. For Hyundai Venue and Venue N Line owners, that peace of mind is now just a tap away. Hyundai has introduced a new remote immobilizer feature through its Bluelink app, allowing users to remotely block the engine from restarting if they suspect foul play. Even better, the upgrade is rolling out via a Controller Over-the-Air (C-OTA) update, meaning eligible drivers get advanced anti-theft security without ever setting foot in a workshop.
How the system works
The remote immobiliser has two different uses. Owners can activate it when the car is parked, or use it later if they suspect that the vehicle has been stolen.
- Parked vehicle: The immobiliser can be switched on from the Bluelink app. After activation, the vehicle cannot be restarted without authorisation.
- Suspected theft: If the owner did not activate it earlier, the function can still be triggered from the app.
- Moving vehicle: The system does not shut down or stop a vehicle that is already moving.
- After switching off: Once the vehicle is stopped and switched off, it cannot be restarted after the immobiliser has been activated.
- Location tracking: Bluelink can also provide live vehicle location information when network connectivity is available.
This safety measure is important because remotely stopping a moving vehicle could create a road safety problem. Hyundai has therefore designed the system so that immobilisation takes effect after the vehicle is switched off.
Which Venue versions get it?
The feature is currently linked to the ccNC-equipped HX10 version of the Venue and the N10 version of the Venue N Line.

Hyundai says eligible Venue and Venue N Line vehicles sold from November 2025 will receive the update remotely. From September 2026, the feature is being offered as standard on the specified ccNC-equipped variants.
More Hyundai cars could get it
The technology is not limited to the Venue forever. Hyundai plans to introduce the function in phases on selected existing Bluelink-equipped models and future connected vehicles. The remote immobiliser is already available on the Ioniq 5.
The C-OTA system is also important because it can update more than the infotainment system. Hyundai says compatible Venue versions can receive software updates across up to 19 vehicle controllers. This gives the company more scope to add functions to vehicles after they have been sold.
Bluelink gets another useful function
Hyundai says Bluelink is now active in more than eight lakh connected vehicles in India and is available on 11 of its 15 models. Depending on the vehicle, the system offers more than 70 connected functions.
These include SOS assistance, automatic crash notification, remote vehicle status, Hyundai Pay, Digital Key, Digital Passport and vehicle-location services. Hyundai also says compatible cars support up to 492 AI-powered voice commands and multilingual support.
For Venue owners, the new immobiliser adds a security-related function to the existing connected-car system. Its operation depends on factors such as vehicle power, wiring and network connectivity.
